Paint flaking, wood beetles, in original gilt gesso frames. The frame is cracked in all 4 corners and has some gilt cracking and chipping. The visual side of the frame is missing an edge. The painting is chipped and loss in the visual foreground and the painting surface has several worm holes. 7-10--2001/KEG (Katherine Guterman)

The painting (which is executed in the manner fo a sketch) is in fair condition. Worm holes can be seen through out the work. It appears that the painting has never been removed from its frame, the origianl wrought nails are still holding it in the framed. The surface is coated with a heavy layer of grime. There may not have ever been a varnish layer present. Damage Information: The panel has been damaged by wood worms. There is active flake loss of the paint layer occuring through out the painting, but mostly at the lower edge.
