Oil on canvas
Madonna and Child. Oil on Canvas. Life size portrait of Holy Mother and Christ Child. Madonna is seated, dressed in blue robe which symbolizes heaven, white gown and linen colored head-wrap/veil with nimbus. She is gazing upwards to heaven and her arms encircle the young Christ child. The Christ-child is not a babe, possibly a year or two in age. He wears a red/rose colored gown which symbolizes his role on earth, holds a wooden cross, and a nimbus is behind his light brown, curly hair. He looks down and out at the viewer. Both figures are bathed in heavenly light.Artwork Details
