Scope and Content

Constructed ca. 1840 probably by Thomas Burnham but maybe by David Levy, a merchant who bought property in 1842. Richmond Plantation rice planter Dr. Benjamin Huger bought the property in 1847. In 1851, his daughter Eliza married Alfred Huger Dunkin, son of chancellor and Chief Justice Benjamin F. Dunkin, and lived there with their 5 sons, one of whom, William Huger Dunkin, was Clerk of Court for 30 years. File contains HCF staff research notes (transcribed above).
