Alonzo f'introduit par une breche...reconait Cora, et l'entriane loin de ces lieux funeftes., Cependant le pril/f'eloigne....Refpire ma chere Cora, dit Alonzo, repofe -toi, et dans le calme et le filence d'une nuit qui nous favorife, laisse-moi me/rassasier du plaisir de te voir, d'adorer tant de charmes. Cora confentit a fasseoir....nous voila seuls, libres, caches, ajoute tendre/ment Alonzo...., les inftans font precieux, n'en perdons plus aucun, et fi je te fuis cher.......Language

Foxing, staining, some areas of loss and fading along lower left edge, mat between paper and glazing.
Frame: cracks at all miters. Gilding cracked horizontally on left edge. 1/4" x 3/4" loss of gilding at LR of frame. Old touch-ups of gilding at corners using "metallic" type paint or diff. color of gilt.Provenance

Given by Thomas R. Bennett, who acquired the four engravings from an antique dealer in Greenwich, Connecticut in 2004. Mr. Bennett originally purchased them for his house in France but later changed his mind.General Notes
