Scope and Content

The Franke Home, a nursing home, had been on this site since 1908. This non-profit home for the aged had been operated by the Evangelical Lutheran Charities of Charleston since 1892. The old house was demolished in 1971 and replaced by the present building. File contains newspaper articles: DYKYC (1935), 100th anniversary; excerpt from Old Codgers' Charleston Address Book (20th c. occupants); house history from Information for Guides of Historic Charleston.
