Scope and Content

No house history on file except that at some point in the mid(?) 1800s, this was the residence of Alexander Owens and Eliza Marie Hoppoldt Owens at one time. Eliza is the daughter of Christian David Hoppoldt who resided at 65 Cannon Street. File contains historical research report (Eberle, 2018); genealogical information on the Alexander Owens and family; newspaper article about current condition of the building (2014); Hurricane Hugo damage assessment (pdf on Media tab); engineer's report on structural issues (Bennett, 2012); site visit report (King Preservation Management, 2012); correspondence from Judge Molony encouraging HCF to support efforts to repair the building (2012); photocopy of color photographs documenting damage done to the fence (2012); research materials compiled by Margaret Schley in preparation for her 2013 Master's thesis on the United Order of Tents and 73 Cannon Street including chain-of-title, maps, and news articles, and information about "subordinates tents."
