CHURCH.038.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1819; renovated 1900, 1980s. Dr. Vincent Le Seigneur, native of Normandy and refugee from Santo Domingo, purchased this lot in 1814 and completed this masonry single house circa 1819. The house remained untouched until the end of the 19th century, when the crenellated stair tower on the north wall was added by successive owners. Late-20th-century alterations include restoration of the kitchen house and extensive landscaping. The house and extensive dependencies were joined by 1900. (Poston, Buildings of Charleston.)
