Scope and Content

This three-story brick house currently sits on a lot that was originally part of Lot 102 of the Grand Modell. The structure may have been constructed by 1788 by the owners at the time, William Screven and later his heirs. By 1828, the Charleston Port Society for the Promotion of the Gospel Among Seaman maintained a home at 52 Church Street. File contains research paper by graduate student, including maps, deeds, etc. (no architectural information); handwritten research notes; newspaper article; appraisal of real property; deed of conservation easement; subordination agreement; correspondence; Form 8283 (Noncash Charitable Contributions); SCDAH preservation application. Files will eventually contain additional documentation such as annual inspection reports; requests for alterations; correspondence related to the management of the property; correspondence and other documentation related to the sale of the property; etc. See Easement Documentation Photo Files for easement donation photographs (Exh.
