Scope and Content

Built as a mill ca. 1900, it was renovated into County Hall in the 1930s and turned into an auditorium in the 1960s, hosting a wide variety of performances and events. In 2001, the Palace was to be turned into 75 housing units. File contains newspaper articles: Post & Courier article about renovations (1989); Charleston Regional Business Journal article about the new renovations (2001); "Charleston Wiki" article with brief history; documentation transferred from John Lauren's file: letter from Preservation Consultants regarding the documentation process (1988), newspaper articles (including 1941, 1961 DYKYC), photocopy of photograph of the Royal Bag and Yarn Manufacturing Company (unattributed, undated), photocopies of photographs (Laurens), and photocopy of architectural drawings (unattributed, undated).
