Scope and Content

This property was owned by Alexander B. Wilson from before 1870 until his death. The property was then inherited by Theodore H. Wilson and others. A plat by S. Lewis Simons, Surveyor, from October 1884 shows this lot (labeled "No. 1") with a 1½ story house thereon. The date of construction is unknown. In tax assessors records for Ward 8 from 1890-1894, a handwritten note states: "Old torn down, new built" between 1889 and the next recorded year and the assessment increased. This indicates that the structure was built in 1889 or slightly later by J.H. Mindermann. (HCF research.) Three files contain documentation of the covenant on the property; correspondence related to the covenant; annual inspection reports; correspondence and other documentation the management of the property; documentation of HCF's rehabilitation of the property; historical/chain-of-title research information; plats (1884, 1979); excerpt from tax map; copy of HCF covenant information card.
