Subject: 367 President St.
Here are two pictures from Sept. 15, 1940, taken on my front porch at 367 President St.! Isn't it always the case that the photographer should have been turned just a tiny bit more one direction or the other?! Rats. Oh well. At least I have evidence that my house as always had a front door!
The baby in the pictures is Jack Murray who today lives on George St. across from the Spoleto HQ in the bed and breakfast. His dad is the man on the left, and his mom is on the right. His godfather is holding him. His family owned my house for a long time (and various family members lived in part of it while it was a duplex). In this photo, Jack has just been baptized, so the date is definite.
A woman I know from the Preservation Society tours is doing the work on Jack's family tree, and she was kind enough to forward these photos to me. I've talked to Jack several times myself and implored him to share any photos with me. I've had him and his wife over to my house to look around before too. Still, he is really hesitant to share family photos for some reason. The reason I say that is that I'm actually not totally sure that he approved his genealogist's sharing of these photos with me.
I wanted to forward a copy to you, but could you please note that they shouldn't be released for copying or posting on-line or anything like that? If anyone wanted to see a copy, I think that would be okay in person, but I would hate for Jack to see a baby photo on line and have a heart attack.
