Transcription

Church Street continued. Dr. Johnson's lot, upon the division of the Vanderhorst land was assigned to the latter's son Elias, from whom it passed to John H. Gadsden(?) who conveyed same to Thomas Young in 1769. It is supposed Mr. Young built the house now standing upon the lot, also the one on the only end on Meeting St. Tradition has it that Col. Isaac Mott purchased Meeting Street house when nearly finished.
