CHURCH.131.3Description
B&W photograph of 131 Church Street (James Huston House), front (east) elevation. Car parked in front. The edge of 129 Church can be seen at left.
Description taped to back of photograph: "This house at 131 Church Street, is now the residence of Dr. and Mrs. I. Grier Linton. It was built about 1809 by James Huston, a merchant tailor, who had his shop on the first floor. The Adam detail on the windows, doors and fireplaces in the rooms of the second floor is very fine. At the rear is a beautiful garden; and this house distinguishes itself in having a ghost. At least to the maid of one of the owners, the ghost of a very disagreeable gentleman stamping up and down stairs manifested itself.Collection
