Hat Boxes and Bandboxes at Shelburne MuseumEntry/Object ID
2004.004.0076Description
While some may think of hat boxes or bandboxes as repositories for hats and dismiss them as of no importance, the collection on display at the Shelburne Museum will point up that these "trifles" existed in the past as evidence of the deep wanderlust in the heart of a mobile American population. They also mirror a restless nation's high standard of living at a very early period of its history. This book describes the collection in the Hat and Fragrance Unit at the Shelburne Museum, a collection of over 200 bandboxes collected by Mrs. J. Watson Webb.
