Scope and Content

Correspondence, invoices, and other documentation related to a variety of restoration work performed at the Aiken-Rhett House from ca. 198os-1995 including masonry repair, stabilization of the outbuildings, and piazza repair and restoration. Contractors include Glenn Keyes and Herbert DeCosta. Folder also contains report entitled "Structural Analysis of the Aiken-Rhett House" by Griffith & [Glenn] Keyes and Shoolbred Engineers, August 1989; a 1999 Agreement (unsigned draft) between Charleston Museum and Houston Associates (contractor) to restore the masonry at the Aiken-Rhett House; abstract of the work completed by the Charleston Museum entitled "The Aiken-Rhett House: Construction Documents, The Charleston Museum, 1975-1995" by Orlando Ridout V (3/15/2005), including the piazza repair project, roof replacement and cornice repairs, Hurricane Hugo damages and repairs, and art gallery repairs.
