Site of the Pinckney Mansion on East Bay Street just north of the City Market. Built ca. 1745 by Charles Pinckney, Attorney General, Speaker of the Commons, Chief Justice, and later Commissioner of the Province in London.
File contains photocopy of floor plan entitled "Plan of Genl C.C. Pinckney House on East Bay"; house history from Information for Guides of Historic Charleston (1984); house history from Tour Guide Training Manual (2011); 1872 Bird's Eye View; Sanborn Maps (1884, 1888, 1902, 1944, 1951); captioned before-and-after photographs from Charleston Then & Now (Phelps, 2005).
