HASELL.028.1Scope and Content
The buildings at 28-36 Hasell Street were constructed variously from 1840-44 and constitute an unbroken line of brick Charleston single houses constructed after the fire of 1838. By 1861 all were owned by John McNellage and occupied by single-family tenants. The building at 28 Hasell Street was converted to a ground-floor commercial space many years ago and stuccoed.
File contains graduate student report (Rachel Wilson, 2018) on the history of the house, which includes historical and chain-of-title research, maps, photos, and other supporting documentation; correspondence to the City regarding concerns about zoning and building issues (1997); 1886 Earthquake damage assessment.Collection
