Scope and Content

The buildings at 28-36 Hasell Street were constructed variously from 1840-44 and constitute an unbroken line of brick Charleston single houses constructed after the fire of 1838. By 1861 all were owned by John McNellage and occupied by single-family tenants. The house at 32 Hasell Street has parapeted gables, dormers, brick detailing with dogtooth cornices and belt courses and Greek Revival style piazza door screens, identical to 30 and 34 Hasell Street. File contains copy of ARP photograph. Needs further research.
