HASELL.041.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1841. A deed dated august 1839 recorded the division of this property into 41 and 43 Hasell Street. The original building on the property was probably lost in the disastrous fire that consumed much of Charleston's first suburb. The present property was on the site by 1841 as Ansonborough was quickly rebuilt. A typical Charleston single house, it has been modified over the years and restored in the early 1970s as a part of HCF's efforts to save Ansonborough homes from further deterioration and possible destruction.
File contains 1973 Architectural Inventory sheet; FOHG house history (2000); house history from Landmarks in Use tour (3/7/1965); newspaper article about house being on HCF's Landmarks in Use tour; copy of ARP photograph.Collection
