Constructed ca. 1805-1810. Robert Gibbes, Jr., a Johns Island planter, lived in the suburban villa on this lot by 1819. The lot had been devised by his mother from the state of her brother, John Wragg. It is possible that his father John Gibbes built the house a few years before.
