Constructed before 1775; renovated with additions 1820, 1890. Gen. Robert Hayne built the northern portion of this 2½ story wood dwelling before the America Revolution. Hayne's son Robert Y. Hayne served as a governor of the state and as the mayor of Charleston. In keeping with Victorian construction on adjacent Ladson Street, the house evolved to its current form by 1890. Also known as the Townsend-Hayne-Manly House.
