Scope and Content

Constructed ca. 1887 on the site of an earlier frame building that was wrecked by the 1886 earthquake. It is a 2-story masonry building with a hipped roof clad in standing-seam metal and concealed by parapets. Three files contain documentation of the easement on the property including related correspondence and Confirmation of Understanding; Part I certification (National Register); easement appraisal report and IRS form 8283; narrative history; Sanborn maps; newspaper article (DYKYC) about King Street generally); advertisement for store in 1968 with illustration of storefront at the time. The files will eventually contain annual inspection reports, requests for alterations, and correspondence related to the management of the property.
