KING.446.1Scope and Content
Constructed 1942; remodeled 1947. Augustus Constantine, architect. Constructed in the Modern style for the Pastime Amusement Company, this uptown theater was named in honor of American servicemen and others working for "victory over the axis powers." Seating 900, this simple building was outfitted with the latest technology, and a large American eagle topped its proscenium arch. Rehabilitation of the building, which retains its exterior marquee and curtain wall facade with stepped parapet, began in 1996 for its use as a virtual reality theater.
