Further researchScope and Content
Ever since 1948, the northwest corner of Morris and King Streets was dominated by a large yellow brick store built there by Edward Kronsberg to house Edward's Department Store. This building occupied numbers 517 through 521. When Edwards closed in 1979, the premises were leased to McCrory's, which remodeled and continued to operate it as the King Variety Store through 1996.
No additional building history on file. Needs further research.
File contains newspaper articles, advertisement for Edward's, and captioned photograph (see also Media link); occupancy history from Old Codgers' Charleston Address Book.
