FOHG house history states: Four-story Greek Revival house with Italianate detail. Buildings of Charleston description for 8 Legare states: 10 Legare Street was constructed on a lot subdivided from the pre-Revolutionary Miles Brewton property to the east; it and 8 Legare Street replaced the original garden temple. Patrick O'Donnell built 10 Legare for Edward North Thurston. In 1953, the extensive kitchen house and quarters at 10½ Legare was subdivided and renovated as a substantial separate residence.
