Constructed ca. 1759; altered 1911. The builder of 22 Legare Street constructed this 3½ story, brick single house. Early plats show that it had a large fenced garden at the rear. The front elevation was substantially renovated in 1911, with the addition of brownstone panels below the windows and a curvilinear parapet. (Poston, Buildings of Charleston.)
