Constructed 1876-77. W.W. Wilkinson built this large Queen Anne style wood house with a turret shortly after his purchase of the lot. A 1½ story brick dependency survived the fire of 1861. The 2-story gable end, stuccoed single house to the north at 53 Legare Street also survived. (Poston, Buildings of Charleston.)
