LOGAN.126.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1805. An unrestored, 2-story wooden house with beaded weatherboarding, hipped roof, and corbeled brick chimneys with a stucco band stands on this small lot. Built by the carpenter Henry Gefken around 1805, the building retains its large nine-over-nine first floor windows and smaller six-over-six windows, a detail recognizable in most Georgian and Federal period houses. The small late-19th century wooden house to the south fronts a ca. 1816 masonry dwelling constructed by the bank clerk John Pickenpack, which was used in the early-20th century as a school.
Three files contain documentation of the easement on the property; correspondence and other documentation related to HCF's purchase and re-sale of the property to the owner; annual inspection reports; documentation of renovation work that needs to be done including "Specifications" (Amanda Griffith, 2003); historical/chain-of-title research; photocopies of historic plats; color photocopy of photos (2001).
See Easement Documentation Photo Files for easement donation photographs (Exh. B to Deed of Conservation Easement) and Covenant/Easement Inspection Photo Files for inspection photography. No inspection photographs on file (see Easement Manager).Collection

Note
Notes: Per April Wood, Manager of Easements, 3/11/2010: Part I certification (National Register) not filed for this property. HCF bought it from the city because the owner defaulted on her taxes. Then HCF sold it back to her family, likely with the requirement that they donate an easement. They do not have much money, so probably did not need a tax deduction; therefore, Part I not necessary.Created By
