Constructed ca. 1830s; renovated 1972, 1980, 1990. This two-story building with Flemish bond brick was probably built in the 1830s and was held in the antebellum period as investment by SC governor William Aiken Jr. Aiken owned a continuous line of 14 separate brick buildings on South Market Street at the time of the Civil War. This structure remained in the Wyatt-Aiken-Rhett-Maybank line for more than a century. It has been heavily altered, particularly in recent years for use by various restaurants.
