Constructed ca. 1860. This building was a grocery store from 1860-1956, founded in 1860 by Diedrich William Ohlandt who came to this country from Germany. The garden is thought to be designed by Loutrel Briggs.
File contains FOHG house histories (1995*); FOHG garden history (2005); newspaper articles (including 1959 DYKYC); photocopy of 1893 store receipt (source of original not indicated); City Directory research; 1886 Earthquake Damage Assessment; plats (1958, 1985, 2007); Sanborn Maps (1888, 1902, 1941, 1951); titles (1857, 1862, 1958); illustration of the interior of the store from newspaper[?].
*There are two FOHG house histories on file, both dated 1995, although one appears to be earlier and possibly mis-dated.Collection
