MEETING.047.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1833. Originally constructed by Robert M. Allan, a factor-planter, this structure's piazzas were removed in the mid-20th century. Nonetheless, the glazed fan and rectangular transoms can clearly be seen from the street. Immediately to the north of the house stretches Price's Alley, established in the 18th century, the site of numerous tenements occupied in the antebellum period by Irish immigrants.
File contains chain-of-title research notes (unattributed, undated); photogaphic reprint of 1799 plat showing property layout (by Purcell); graduate student report (Genevieve Prosser, 2005) on the history of the house (includes historical and chain-of-title research, maps, and other supporting documentation).Collection
