Scope and Content

Enterprise Bank, northwest corner of Meeting and Market Streets, site of Charleston Place now. No building history on file. Needs additional research. File contains advertisement with illustration of building from "Resources & Attractions of Charleston" (ca. 1898); photocopy of photograph of building (either from "Charleston: Her Trade, Commerce, and Industries" or "Charleston and the SC Inter-State and West Indian Exposition"); Sanborn Maps showing building and site over time (1884-1944); newspaper article about gas station to be constructed on site (DYKYC 1936); excerpts from 1902 and 1905 city directories; copy of letterhead; photocopy of photograph looking west on Market Street, building in background. No photos on file. Image #1 in this record is from document in the Property File. Image #2 from Charleston and the Exposition Illustrated, 2010.007.1 and 2012.010.117, Pamphlet 96. Image #3 appears to be a scan of a receipt; sent by researcher who found it on website "Charleston History Before 1945."
