Mahogany Pembroke Table , Cypress Secondary Wood, Hepplewhite Style, Charleston, SC, circa 1800. With four tapered legs with String Inlay and Inlaid Band Near Base; on Casters. Banded Inlay Around the Table Top. One Drawer with String Inlay Rounded At Corners. Original Round Brass Plates and Pulls.
Oval-topped table with drop leaves supported by four tapered legs on castors. Leaves are supported by fly gates. Top has double-band string inlay. The top of the legs are embellished with inlaid foliate and ribbon paterae. The aprons, which follow the oval form of the top, are detailed with ovolo stringing.Collection

The top is darker than the leaes and has random staining across the grain. The string on the top has been repaired at the edge of the front and back right.
The drawer has gouges along the top edge, perhaps made during an old attempt to open the locked drawer without the key. Similar gouges are evident along the top of the bottom rail.
The fly gate supports are in excellent condition.
Chalk inscription on bottom of proper right leaf:

Treatments:
1. Photo , inspect, determine direction of treatment.
2. Test finish-found to be shellac
3.Remove top, disassemble frame and reglue using water reversible animal hide glue
4.Reglue loose pieces of wood on top, string inlay and inlay borders
5.Fabricate and install new inlay borders where missing
6 Remove finish with methanol
7. 10 coats orange shellac applied, rubbed down and paste waxed
8. Polish brasses
