MONTAGU.014.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1885 by Mrs. Caroline Blackwood Brown [or a family member]. This dwelling provides a late-19th century note amidst the concentration of antebellum architecture on the street. Following the Queen Anne style, the 2-story, hipped-roof dwelling includes a wrapping piazza with turned columns and spindle work surmounted by an arched entry hood, a shingled second story, and gable styled dormers with Venetian windows.
No additional house history on file. Needs further research.
