Scope and Content

Constructed ca. 1846 for Mrs. D.T. Heriot, daughter of Dr. Thomas Eveleigh (who built 23 Montagu for another daughter. The 2½ story brick dwelling remained in the Heriot family until 1885. (Source: Info for Guides) Three files contain documentation of the easement on the property including related correspondence, mortgage subordination, and Confirmation of Understanding; Part I certification (National Register); easement appraisal report and IRS form 8283; FOHG house history (undated); other narrative history (undated, unattributed); house history from Information for Guides of Historic Charleston; newspaper article (DYKYC 1972); handwritten staff research "source notes" (scant).
