47 Montagu Street (Steedman-Gnann House)Entry/Object ID
MONTAGU.047.1Scope and Content
Constructed 1896-1898. F.L. Steedman, who purchased this property in a master's sale in 1896, probably built the 2-story wooden house on this site. Held by a bank for many years, it was eventually conveyed to Walter Gnann, a partner in the Jet White Stream laundry on King Street. Even though the building looks like a Charleston single house, its stair hall fits within an original western appendage recessed behind a one-bay entry porch.
