MURRAY.104.1Scope and Content
Constructed 1930. This well-detailed wooden house stands apart from its brick-veneered neighbors near the western edge of Murray Boulevard. Louis Fischer, president of his family's lumber company, built this 2½ story dwelling in 1930. The architect must have been thoroughly versed in Federal style southern houses, evident through the detail of its double-tiered, pedimented portico with a lunette window in the tympanum. The house contrasts stylistically with its neighbors, particularly the white Southern Colonial style dwelling with 2-story portico at 96 Murray Boulevard and the pressed brick, white pilastered house with a pedimented gable, built in 1943, at 98 Murray Boulevard.
