Subject: 6 Elmwood Ave.
My friend (and super contractor) Marc Engelke has been hired to perform his magic on a small house in Hampton Park Terrace at 6 Elmwood Ave. The house had vinyl siding on it for a very long time, and its installation resulted in some details being cut off the house. So, when I heard Marc was working on the project, I started my hunt for photographic evidence of the house. After a lot of effort, I made contact with a grandson of the second owners. He lived in Columbia, and he was kind enough to scan two photos of the house from the 1920s that his mother has in a family album!
Here is the house before Marc started work on it and how it looked in the 1920s:
And here is a super shot of the owners sitting in the living room in 1922! The fireplace was replaced at some point, and I would never have imagined there would be a chance of finding evidence of what it had looked like, but there it is! How about that!
