Constructed ca. 1850 for use as cotton factors' offices and warehouse space. Converted for office use in the early 20th century. Two-story rectangular stuccoed brick commercial/warehouse structure (Poston, Buildings of Charleston).
Three files contain documentation of the easement on the property including related correspondence, Confirmation of Understanding, and mortgage subordination; Part I certification (National Register); easement appraisal report; annual inspection reports, requests for alterations, and correspondence related to the management of the property; architectural drawings; history of 10 South Adgers and 16 South Adgers (unattributed, 1960s?); history of Adger's Wharf from Information for Guides of Historic Charleston; FOHG house histories (1983, 1993, partial undated); newspaper articles ("Extensive Brick Warehouse Being Remodeled to Provide Homes on South Adger's Wharf (3/31/1948) and "Warehouse to Get New Look" (1/27/1956); copies of plats (1804, 1835); Rosen and Associates (engineers) inspection report (2001); copies of signed petitions opposing zoning changes or variances at 8 North Adger's Wharf; architectural inventory form (undated, unattributed).
