Scope and Content

Constructed before 1779. This Georgian single house was built by John Stevenson. Gen. Robert Howe of North Carolina, commander of the Continental Line in South Carolina, lived here briefly during the Revolution. The top story is a later addition. (Tour Guide Manual, 2011) File contains brief house history by Jonathan Poston; building history from unattributed, undated report; FOHG house history (2008); historical research notes (unattributed, undated); newspaper article (1974 DYKYC); measured floor plan.
