Constructed 1830-40. The younger Basile Lanneau built the two-story, pressed-brick house at 7 Pitt Street between 1837 and 1840 on a lot purchased by his father. This flat-roofed Greek Revival dwelling retains its side piazza and interior detailing. Its stone window lintels and sills, masonry detailing, and cast-iron grills with anthemion motifs match those on the Lanneau dwelling at 9 Pitt Street, a three-story side-hall-plan house built by the family sometime between 1830 and 1840. The latter building has its principal rooms on the second floor and an upper piazza resting on masonry piers. Several original outbuildings survive at the rear of 7 Pitt Street. (Buildings of Charleston.)
