One of a pair of gas wall brackets, this one depicting the figure of Mercury, c. 1857-1859. Heavy Base with Rear Projections For Attaching To Wall and Side Arms To Hold Decorative Gas Fixtures. Brass Finial At Bottom with Ring Attached At the Center of the Intersection of Arms Andrear Projection. Above the Lower Finial Is a Round Pedestal To Which a Small Brass Figure of a Male Figure Is Attached, Staniding on One Leg with Other Leg Raised Behind Him As If Running, in Left Arm He Holds a Bow (Missing) and Has a Quiver of Arrows Behind Him. Draped Fabric on the Cord From the Quiver of Arrows Crosses the Front of the Body. Outside Edge of Each Side Arm Supports a Brass "Aladdins" Lamp with handle at rear and gas jet at spout. Pressed brass globe holder with 3 screws. Floral back plate of cast brass.Collection
