Brown and Co. mahogany, secondary wood unknown, gilt painted black with gilt decoration, of usual form, having ebonized columnar support, middle section having attached gilt reeded decoration; upper section of support depicting medieval figures under Romanesque arches, shaped base having winged lion feet. Marked 'J.F. Browne & Co. / Makers / London & 281 Broadway. N. York' opposite side marked 'Grad Patent Seal' with Prince of Wales Seal, Franklin Metal - Philadelphia Inst. of Art Seal
