Constructed ca. 1823 on a lot purchased in 1823 by Catherine Cleary, who likely built the house after her husband died. She sold the house in 1828 to Jane Stewart. The original building was a typical small Charleston single house. The house was enlarged over time, including a kitchen addition and porches on the front and backside by 1901.
File contains narrative history (unattributed, undated); BAR application (2000) with photos and architectural drawings (no indication of approval status).
