One of three volumes of articles which appeared in the South Carolina Historical (and Genealogical) Magazine between 1917 and 1928. Volume 2 describes the various of cities and towns (some no longer in existence) laid out by the Lords Proprietor and will be of special interest to genealogists who are looking to tie names of early settlers to specific town lots. Also includes 15 maps, from town plats to regional maps.
The towns in this volume are Dorchester, Charleston, Georgetown, Beaufort, French James Town, Willtown or New London, Purrysburgh, Radnor, Edmundsbury, Jacksonborough, forgotten towns in Lower South Carolina (Ashley Ferry Town, St. Andrews Town, and Bermuda Town), Childsbury, Old Charles Town and vicinity (Accabee and Wappoo), and St. Andrew's Parish.
