Construction: Crest to back stile joinery: Unpinned mortise and tenon. Splat to shoe joiner: splat blind tenoned to shoe. Rear seat rail/shoe construction: Rail is the full depth of the leg stiles; the shoe is integral. Seat frame joinery: Unpinned mortise and tenon. Glue blocks: None; seat supports nailed to the rear of side rails, the nails set in gouged pockets. Stretcher joinery: Unpinned mortise and tenon at sides and back; center stretcher joined to side stretchers with half-dovetail joint from below.
