The Historic City Faces its FutureDescription
One of several sessions of the Architectural Forum, held as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Historic Charleston Foundation.
Presentation by W. Morton Brown III, of Mary Washington College, about the preservation challenges of Charleston faces in the next 50 years, referencing Kenneth Chorley's 1947 challenge to Charleston, which sparked the establishment of Historic Charleston Foundation. Praises the uniqueness of Charleston, introduces the concept of "euthenics," and suggests that the tension between those who think Charleston should remain what it has been and those who think Charleston should become what it has never been will give rise to the future appearance of Charleston.
