Panel discussion moderated by Joseph (Peter) McGee, Past President of HCF, with panelists Ray Huff (Ray Huff Architects, and representing the Port Authority [Union Pier]), Jonathan Poston (Director of Preservation, HCF), Mayor Joseph P. Riley, and Anita Zucker (Chair, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce).
Presentations by panelists, followed by Q&A. Topics discussed include tourism and promoting Charleston history (Zucker); creation of an urban redevelopment plan for the Charleston waterfront at Union Pier Terminal (Huff); the role of the Board of Architectural Review in preservation (Poston); and the future of Charleston (Riley).
Q&A topics include Union Pier; the development of the Ansonborough Homes site; changing of the Accommodations District; public transportation; tourism and the quality and type of tourists; and sprawl.
