Constructed ca. 1760-70; moved to back of lot and restored mid-20th century. Thomas Elfe, Charleston's most noted colonial cabinetmaker, built this 2½ story weatherboarded single house on this parcel some years before the Revolution. In its mid-20th-century restoration the house was shifted on the property for construction of an adjacent retail space.
