QUEEN.133.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1869; twentieth-century renovation. Rebuilding on the site of his pre-fire grocery, Bulwinkle, a German merchant, constructed a flat-roofed, stuccoed brick building of 2 stories. He later built the more substantial grocery at 40 Archdale Street and eventually retired in prosperity to upper Harleston Village. Retaining its storefront, the building has continued in neighborhood grocery use with various owners since construction.
